Overview

Milbank LLP, which had been located on Wall Street since their founding 150 years ago, used their move to 55 Hudson Yards to embrace and demonstrate their shift as a global, diverse law firm.

The architecture of Milbank’s new office space embraces the unique features of the building. Intense attention was given to the simplification of materials and organization of the space to promote the views and access to natural light.

The extensive use of materials such as mirror and stainless steel reflect the city and river views as well as maximize natural light. A bespoke solution for the glass office fronts and furnishings, creates a seamless unified architectural statement. Lawyer work walls deftly hide perimeter columns and storage extending the eye to the perimeter windows.

Implementation

The stair connecting the practice floors supports the connection of each employee to the whole. The transparent office fronts make Partners and Associates more visible to their colleagues, which bolster a newfound sense of togetherness.
