K&L Gates
Vision
Reality

Overview

International law firm K&L Gates’ London office is seamlessly integrated into Land Securities’ complex and iconic One New Change, designed by Jean Nouvel. Commanding views of St. Paul’s cathedral are a backdrop to technologically advanced meeting spaces and collaborative workareas that enhance the provision of integrated global services. The design responds directly to the dynamic and irregular building envelope, with enclosures, ceiling treatments, lighting, and site-specific art that define space and reflect K&L Gates’ physical and strategic brand. This project won the British Council for Offices “Best of the Best” Award, setting a standard for office design in the UK.

Process

Implementation

The new London office has become an assembly point for colleagues and interactions that enhance the firm’s practice and impact the representation of K&L Gates’ brand in the European market

Public and conference spaces have promoted an increase in meetings and events, over 50% the first 6 months, and an additional 40% in the following year

Contiguous floorplates, fitted-out in a flexible, open and transparent fashion, support integrated practice teams and the cross-selling of legal services

This project has been recognized for its contribution to the client’s business mission. As well as recognition from the British Council for Offices, it has earned the AIA Institute Honor Award for Interior Architecture, the IIDA Global Excellence Award and the Architectural Record “Good Design is Good Business” Award
